GREAVES HIGH SHEAR MIXERS


Most High Shear Mixers operate on a purely centrifugal displacement caused by the rotating impeller and this displacement gives promotion to flow. The Greaves High Shear Mixer utilises a positive action impeller and the liquid is positively drawn into the mixer head rather than relying on centrifugal displacement. This positive flow is clearly indicated when comparing flow capacities at elevated viscosities. Greaves High Shear Mixers will operate at viscosities in excess of 300 poise.


The particle size can be controlled by the size of the discharge ports in the stator, finer ports achieving finer dispersion of global size in emulsions.

THE HSD RANGE OF MIXERS

The High Speed Disperser range of mixers are fitted with the serrated tooth impeller which is ideally suited to medium viscosity processes from 80 to 150 poise where the agglomerates are "soft" in nature if a good dispersion is to be achieved.

As there are few mixing parts the mixers are easily cleaned by running in a suitable solvent, installation costs are kept to a minimum. The laboratory and medium size production models with stands have the facility of raising and lowering the impeller.

When powders/fillers are added they are drawn downwards into the vortex, the particles are subject to shear against each other as they flow across the impeller blade. At the tip of the impeller the particles are subjected to intense shear by the serrated teeth. From there they are returned at high velocity to the batch to complete the cycle. The high speed of the mixer shaft coupled with the relative size of impeller causes centrifugal displacement of the base fluid resulting in a powerful vortex. TRIPLE ACTION DISPERSION MIXER

The unique Triple Action Disperser from Greaves produces high quality powder in liquid dispersions with greater speed and lower energy consumption than traditional machines.

This substantially improved performance is achieved by the use of independent agitators to produce mass flow action, high shear and efficient vessel cleaning.

The disperser offers the additional advantage that it is relatively low in power, therefore temperature increase in the product is negligible.
